Bio

Babette Beaullieu was born in New Iberia, Louisiana. Growing up in south Louisiana in a rich, cultural environment, has influenced her performance, installation and sculptural work. She holds a BFA from the University of California in Santa Barbara in Sculpture. Her art profession began after years in the marine industry where she came to regard boatbuilding and sail making as the beginning of her interest in sculpture.  She has studied art in Europe and traveled throughout Bali to study textile and wood carving. Her sculpture and installations have been exhibited in museums and art centers including New Orleans Museum of Art, Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, Diverse Works Art Space in Houston. Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and was invited as a guest artist to the Alexandria Museum of Art to create an interactive art exhibit.
